I’m having trouble triggering a rule x hours after midnight on the due date.
What am I missing?
Hey @Terry_Graham, welcome to the Forum! Thank you for the question!
By examining your rule, I’m seeing that you’re using a trigger that only runs at midnight, when the time and date on your computer change - this is the only specificity when it comes to that type of trigger (Task is overdue, Due date is approaching) . That type of rule will only be executed at midnight, when the calendar date changes on your machine. You cannot trigger this type of rule manually. I believe this is what you’re experiencing.
Please let me know if I can provide more info on the topic or can help in any other way.
That’s true when a trigger is set for days or weeks, but from what we’ve been told in the past, if it has minutes or hours, it should fire immediately when the trigger state occurs; and this is kind of implied (but not stated explicitly) by the tooltip:
Can you maybe check on our understanding of this?
Thank you both for the reply. Yes, my understanding from the tooltip is as you describe Phil. Here is the tooltip for this rule:
To me, this means it should fire at 4:00PM the day it is due.
I have a similar rule that runs on Friday afternoons for a items due the following Saturday.
This is before it is due, but the tooltip describes the behavior as such:
8 Hours before the due date (for a Saturday item) is 4:00PM on Friday. This rule IS working.
So by that same logic, I would expect the other rule to fire at 4:00 on the day it is due.
