restrict adding tasks into completed projects

Is there a way to restrict adding new tasks into a project that has been marked as complete?

Once a project manager has ‘completed’ a project we need to restrict users (or the PM!) from adding any more tasks, unless they uncomplete. Is this possible?

My immediate thought is* to restrict their access?

But I’m also trying to understand what you also mean by unless the tasks is incomplete. Can you elaborate more?

From my understanding I’m getting that the project is still open, and all tasks are currently completed, but you want to prevent the PM from having the ability to add new tasks at all to the project? While still having access to project but, ONLY and ONLY if there’s an incomplete task(s) in the project can they add new tasks?

I think just communicating to the PM about this because you’ll have to constantly change the access settings for that particular user every time.

While I’m writing this I was wondering if there was a rule that can be set in place, but I don’t think its possible to set up a rule that if there are no incompleted tasks change this user from a Viewer to an Editor

I hope I’m making sense to you. Good luck as I’m curious if this is something thats ultimately possible myself.

Hello @Sarah_Benikowsky - first of, welcome to our community forum! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

As @Levar_M mentioned - you would need to restrict their permissions on the project level in order to restrict their access to edit or add items.

No I mean once a project gets marked as complete by the PM no one - not even the PM can add any more tasks unless the project itself gets ‘uncompleted’ and turned back into an active project. I guess the PM could manually restrict access to completed projects but then why ‘complete’ it if complete doesnt really do anything?

Thanks! yeah it just feels like an extra manual step when marking a project as complete is already a manual step. Was hoping there was something more elegant.
